I have known Bill for more than 50 years, as a fraternity brother in our local chapter of Kappa Phi at Lamar and as a charter member when we were initiated as charter members of Sigma Chi in 1961. He became my insurance and investment counselor after I moved to Houston and later after I married and had children. Bill was never one to be bashful, nor was he one to wait for something to happen. He was a man of action and a man of his word. Many times he met with my wife and I to discuss our investments. He came to our house in Spring many times. We learned to love him, not only as a true fraternity brother, but a very dependable adviser and a true friend. Bill Tarver, "All Honor to Your Name"!! In Hoc Signo Vinces. I love you my brother.

Bill was our social director at Lamar and he always planned and did everything right. If there was a job needing done, you knew if Bill was in charge of it, it would be done right. Bill connected us up with Mr. Shelton and we worked catering parties and earned money to rent the WOW hall. Bill reminded me of a Mississippi gambler or perhaps Maverick at the time. As the years went by, Bill became a real family man and a true brother. He accomplished much on this earth and now he has earned his eternal reward. To Maris and children we all share your grief and thank you for being a real Sig wife all of these years. Ardis Havard and I went to visit Bill when he was in Hospice care in a facility off Gesner in Houston a short while before he passed. We took him in some fruit which we learned he was not supposed have, but Bill said, "I'm eating it anyway!!" and bragged about how good it was. He had made peace with his God and was ready to go. So long old friend and Brother.
May God Be very near you At this time of deepest sorrow To comfort you and grant you strength To meet Each Tomorrow
