Jerry Goodgame came to our 50th reunion at the Old
Steak House in Athens on May 18, 2007. I don't think I
had seen Jerry since we were Freshman at MHS,
some 50 + years before. Jerry attended MHS as a
freshman after the Crossroads school burned. He,
along with several others from Crossroads, made our
class an outstanding one. Jerry and I were in Ag our
freshman year and competed in the FFA quiz. He and I
were given the chore of studying for the Regional
quiz. While everyone else did outside stuff, Jerry and
I studied for the quiz. I don't think we won anything,
but we had fun preparing. After our freshman year,
Jerry transferred to Athens and I lost contact with
him. At the reunion, renewed our friendship. After the
reunion, I heard that Jerry had some form of cancer.
Ever now and then I would receive an email from
Jerry, usually containing some funny joke, but he
never once mentioned about his condition. Every
email was something funny, politically motivated,
uplifting, or sometimes all three.

TALKED WITH JERRY GOODGAME YESTERDAY
MORNING. HE HAD CANCER SURGERY OCTOBER
27, 2010 REMOVING ONE KIDNEY. HE RETURNED
TO THE DOCTOR WEDNESDAY FOR SOME MORE
TEST AND FOUND THE CANCER WAS QUICKLY
SPREADING THROUGHOUT HIS BODY.. THE
DOCTORS TELL HIM THIS IS A RARE CANCER AND
CANNOT BE TREATED LIKE NORMAL CANCER.
JERRY SAID HE WAS GOING TO MD ANDERSON
HOSPITAL IN HOUSTON FOR A SECOND OPINION
AND OR TREATMENT. THE DOCTORS TOLD HIM HE
HAS BETWEEN 4 AND TWELVE MONTHS TO LIVE.
JERRY WAS A CLASSMATE OF MINE AND MY
HUNTING BUDDY GROWING UP IN THE CROSS
ROADS AND MALAKOFF AREA. PLEASE KEEP
JERRY AND HIS FAMILY IN YOUR PRAYERS AS HE
