In February of 1961 the local fraternity, Kappa Phi, was initiated and
installed as the Epsilon Chi Chapter of Sigma Chi at Lamar Tech,
Beaumont, Texas. In April, 1961, Lamar Group had their 1st Sigma
Chi Sweetheart Ball and Vivien was among the first Lamar Tech
Sigma Chi Sweetheart nominees.
